AAHS is committed to finding loving forever homes for each of our dogs. You can view the list of current animals online, attend one of our weekly Adoption Events to meet our pets, or you can work with your Adoption Coordinator to set up a meeting at a convenient time.

Step 1

Complete an Adoption Application Form and submit it to Andalusia Area Humane Society by bringing the completed copy by our facility or emailing a copy to us. If you have a question or issue you can always email us at

Step 2

You will be contacted by an AAHS Adoption Coordinator, who will discuss your application, identify your needs and preferences and conduct an initial screening.

Step 3

Your Adoption Coordinator will conduct any required checks, like setting up a home visit, where a knowledgeable volunteer will meet with all residents to identify any risks or items to monitor when your new pet comes home, conduct a landlord check (if you rent), and checking with your current vet to ensure your pets are up to date on their medical needs (if you are a current pet owner).

Step 4

If everything checks out, you will either be approved to adopt the dog you are interested in adopting!

Step 5

At the time of adoption, a $65.00 adoption fee and signing our Adoption Agreement will be required!

  • American Bulldog

Biscuit is a sweet, affectionate dog who loves people and is so happy when she greets you. She may be an older pup, but you would never know that from her energy level. She acts like a much younger dog who is raring to go, and has tons of love to give. Biscuit had a family until very recently when her dad was no longer able to give her the time, affection, and daily exercise she needed. Senior dogs like Biscuit make excellent companions; they are confident in their skin, grateful for a loving and safe home, and are happy to go for a walk or lounge on the sofa next to you. At shelters, seniors are the least likely to be adopted and the first to be euthanized. Fostering or adopting a senior dog is your opportunity to be a hero and get a wonderful companion in return. She remains a very active pup who needs her daily walks and playtime, and really is a joyous, loving dog. Seniors are often overlooked, but are the most grateful for a loving home and family. Biscuit deserves a loving family of her own to live out her golden years.

Meet Happy! Happyl is a gorgeous, young cattle dog mix weighing in at about 30 lbs who cannot WAIT to meet you! Happy is named after her personality; she is a young energetic girl who will require PLENTY of exercise and cannot wait to grow and learn with you! She's dreaming of long walks and trips to the dog park in her future. She'd love to play with new toys, explore the neighborhood and even go to obedience classes to show off just how smart she is! She is counting down the minutes until she can meet your friends, go on trips, and cuddle up with you on the couch after a long day. Happy is good with other dogs so she'd be a great addition to an existing pack! We haven't had a chance to see her interact with kids or cats yet, but if you have them let us know and we're happy to find out for you. Like most shelter dogs, Happy may need a refresher on housetraining. The adoption fee for this dog is $65.00.
