Adopt

AAHS is committed to finding loving forever homes for each of our dogs. You can view the list of current animals online, attend one of our weekly Adoption Events to meet our pets, or you can work with your Adoption Coordinator to set up a meeting at a convenient time.

Step 1

Complete an Adoption Application Form and submit it to Andalusia Area Humane Society by bringing the completed copy by our facility or emailing a copy to us. If you have a question or issue you can always email us at andalusiahumanesociety@gmail.com.

Step 2

You will be contacted by an AAHS Adoption Coordinator, who will discuss your application, identify your needs and preferences and conduct an initial screening.

Step 3

Your Adoption Coordinator will conduct any required checks, like setting up a home visit, where a knowledgeable volunteer will meet with all residents to identify any risks or items to monitor when your new pet comes home, conduct a landlord check (if you rent), and checking with your current vet to ensure your pets are up to date on their medical needs (if you are a current pet owner).

Step 4

If everything checks out, you will either be approved to adopt the dog you are interested in adopting!

Step 5

At the time of adoption, a $65.00 adoption fee and signing our Adoption Agreement will be required!

  • Terrier
  • Spayed/Neutered
This sweet boy can't wait to find her forever family. Bo is a young impressionable pup and will need a solid routine and plenty of structure to grow into healthy and happy adult dog. At just about 5 months, this lovebug will also require regular exercise, play and mental stimulation. He's looking forward to frolicking around the dog park with new friends and to grow in to a well socialized and good mannered pup. Like most puppies, Bo will need to work on his housetraining. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to us at andalusiahumanesociety@gmail.org! Thank you for contacting AAHS and helping to save a life!

Biscuit is a sweet, affectionate dog who loves people and is so happy when she greets you. She may be an older pup, but you would never know that from her energy level. She acts like a much younger dog who is raring to go, and has tons of love to give. Biscuit had a family until very recently when her dad was no longer able to give her the time, affection, and daily exercise she needed. Senior dogs like Biscuit make excellent companions; they are confident in their skin, grateful for a loving and safe home, and are happy to go for a walk or lounge on the sofa next to you. At shelters, seniors are the least likely to be adopted and the first to be euthanized. Fostering or adopting a senior dog is your opportunity to be a hero and get a wonderful companion in return. She remains a very active pup who needs her daily walks and playtime, and really is a joyous, loving dog. Seniors are often overlooked, but are the most grateful for a loving home and family. Biscuit deserves a loving family of her own to live out her golden years.

Dobby was found very recently living on the streets in Andalusia and is taking time to adjust to being able to live like a the happy little elf she should be.

Meet Happy! Happyl is a gorgeous, young cattle dog mix weighing in at about 30 lbs who cannot WAIT to meet you! Happy is named after her personality; she is a young energetic girl who will require PLENTY of exercise and cannot wait to grow and learn with you! She's dreaming of long walks and trips to the dog park in her future. She'd love to play with new toys, explore the neighborhood and even go to obedience classes to show off just how smart she is! She is counting down the minutes until she can meet your friends, go on trips, and cuddle up with you on the couch after a long day. Happy is good with other dogs so she'd be a great addition to an existing pack! We haven't had a chance to see her interact with kids or cats yet, but if you have them let us know and we're happy to find out for you. Like most shelter dogs, Happy may need a refresher on housetraining. The adoption fee for this dog is $65.00.

Hello! My name is Dolly and I'm looking for a home to call my own! My biggest dream is a place of my own with a human to return all the tennis balls to and a lap to curl up in at the end of the day. My dream would be long walks, play dates at dog parks, chew toys call my own and a cozy bed right next to yours - we could even share! Dolly is dreaming of climbing onto a lap for cuddle and a kiss before hopping down to play, chew, eat, and run, before repeating all of the above again. Like most shelter pups, Dolly will need to work on her housetraining, she's likely crate trained. Just one look me and I know you will be hooked! SO what do you say? Let's do this!

Maggie is great on a leash and loves to walk; she's attentive, loves to play, and never meets a stranger. She's good with kids, ignores the cats, and is even good with the two puppies we have. She's very neat in her kennel and house-trained. Maggie is a bit too energetic with engaging with other adult dogs at our facility, so it would be best for her to be adopted into a home without other pets. Maggie is an active girl but can quickly switch to couch potato mode when given the chance. Maggie knows basic commands, is housebroken and crate trained. She enjoys her walks in the park and would like a family who can get her out to explore. Rides great in the car, too. Maggie has been spayed and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $65. Message us to schedule an appointment to meet Maggie!

ATTN: ADOPTERS, FOSTERS, AND RESCUES. . . . .Bruce Wayne spent the first 6 months of his life kenneled with a local vet. When we brought him to AAHS he fit right in with Cheyenne and her puppies - but he is very timid and has a hard time accepting strangers. He enjoys one-on-one quiet time and, with love and patience, this gorgeous boy will be a wonderful, loyal companion. He just needs a chance. We've done our best for him - he is gentle around children and some other dogs, but not all - or a home without either might be preferable. We simply don't know. Sponsored, neutered, fully vetted, and heartworm negative - Bruce Wayne needs a home, foster, or rescue - and we are willing to transport. Will you be part of Bruce Wayne's future? Please SHARE and help us help find Bruce Wayne a happy and secure future in a loving home.

Ben Bernardo was born at AAHS and is very shy around new folks - but is the sweetest boy with those of us who take care of him every day. He is one of 3 (including Cheese and Tater) from a litter of 8 that are still with us. We know Mom was a small black lab and the rest is anyone's guess. He fancies himself a lapdog and, with love and confidence, this beautiful boy will be a wonderful, loyal companion. He just needs a chance. We've done our best for him, but he remains timid with strangers. We think a home without small children or other pets might be good - but that's not to say he couldn't adjust to any situation. We simply don't know. Sponsored, neutered, fully vetted, and heartworm negative - Ben needs a home, foster, or rescue - and we will transport. Will you be the answer to Ben's future?
